Improved Craig–Bampton Method Implemented into Durability Analysis of Flexible Multibody Systems

The Craig–Bampton method is frequently applied in most commercial multibody dynamic software. Nevertheless, the modes only represent free-free flexible systems. However, are incapable of all engineering applications. Hence, a rational set reference conditions must be correctly chosen to define unique displacement field. Firstly, simple 2D beam with two revolute joints taken as an example prove that not suitable for applications, and results validated by ANSYS analytical solution. Secondly, improved different methods: (i) added original matrix (ii) shape functions redefine mass stiffness matrices before constructing matrix. This implementation illustrates can generate but also non-free-free modes. Finally, discrepant imposed obtain response connecting rod based on method, which using normal mode approach. Simulations show used general-purpose durability analysis.
